Sunshine State Supremacy

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai recap the Noles 27-2 victory over the Florida Gators.

113015_RenegadeReport

FSU matched Florida’s physicality and intensity from the opening kickoff and eventually the Noles’ superior talent and depth took over.

It was tough sledding for the offense against a very good Gators’ defense but Jimbo Fisher was able to scheme up enough chunk plays to put the offense in scoring position.  Eventually, Dalvin Cook and the offensive line wore down Florida’s defense and put the game out of reach.

The defense put constant pressure on Treon Harris; neutralizing his running ability by collapsing the pocket from the outside-in.  When necessary, Charles Kelly used Derwin James as a spy.  Despite rushing for 136 yards, Kelvin Taylor and the Gators’ rushing attack was contained all night.

Now that the season is over and FSU went 10-2 as predicted, we take a look back at the season as a whole and discuss the positives and negatives.  We also wonder aloud: what would FSU’s record be if Sean Maguire started all season?

Missed Opportunities Cost The Noles A Chance To Upset Clemson

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai discuss the Noles’ 23-13 loss to Clemson.

110815_RenegadeReport

Last week we opened the podcast by asking who should start at quarterback. This week we open the podcast by asking did Jimbo’s decision cost FSU a game they could have won. Sean Maguire went 16-29, 164 yards 0 TDs and 1 Int. Despite numerous attempts, the vertical passing attack was virtually non-existent.

Once again, the defense played well enough to win a game that was ultimately lost but once again the defense failed to get a stop at the most crucial time of the game.

With no chance at an ACC title and no chance at a National title, we wonder aloud is it time to turn the page to 2016 and start getting more playing time for the younger players.

Clemson Preview & Prediction

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai preview Saturday’s showdown against Clemson.

110115_RenegadeReport

We open the podcast by discussing the question everyone is asking: who should start Saturday, Everett Golson or Sean Maguire? What are the chances Jimbo uses a 2 QB system? Does the quarterback decision change our prediction for the game?

Defensively, Jalen Ramsey and Marquez White have begun labeling themselves the best cornerback tandem in the country. They will be tested early and often by Clemson’s wide receivers. What are realistic expectations for the defense against the Tigers’ high powered offense?

Uninspired, Unimpressive, Unacceptable

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai recap the Noles 24-16 victory over Wake Forest.

100415_RenegadeReport

It was an unimpressive and uninspired effort by FSU yesterday. Was it because of the weather? Was it because the slew in injuries early in the game? Was it because the team was looking ahead to their showdown against Miami next week? Regardless of the reason(s), what we saw yesterday is unacceptable.

Will injuries to Dalvin Cook and Mario Pender finally force Everett Golson to use his legs as a weapon? On the opposite end of the spectrum, is it time to bench Golson and see if Sean Maguire can spark the offense?

With the Miami Hurricanes coming to town we fully expect to see a much better effort Saturday night. The question is will it be good enough to win the game?

Noles Defense Dominates Boston College

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc. & Nolebra Kai recap the Noles 14-0 victory over Boston College.

092015_RenegadeReport

FSU’s defense controlled the game from start to finish. Charles Kelly’s unit held the Eagles to 195 total yards and never allowed them to get into scoring range. Jalen Ramsey’s 36 yard scoop and score put an exclamation point on a dominant performance.

After the first drive of the game, FSU’s offense was offensive. There was no rhythm, there was no consistency and there were no more points scored. Dalvin Cook was held to 54 yards rushing on 15 carries.

The most shocking stat of the game was Cason Beatty averaging 52.3 yards on 7 punts.

With ¼ of the season completed and no game this week, we discuss what we know and what we think we know about the 2015 Seminoles’ football team.

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai give their record and statistical predictions for 2015.

083015_RenegadeReport

There are 6 days until FSU kicks off the 2015 season against Texas State and Jimbo Fisher has yet to announce a starting quarterback. The center and right side of the offensive line are still unsettled. Is this a cause for concern to start the season?

What will the offensive and defensive identity be for the Seminoles in 2015? Statistically, who will lead the Noles in receiving, sacks and interceptions?

Will FSU win the Atlantic division? Will FSU win their 4th consecutive ACC title? What will the regular season record be?

2015 Spring Practice – Week 2 Recap

In this episode of The Renegade Report, Herc & special guest co-host Travis aka FSUBone recap week 2 of FSU’s spring practice.

032915_RenegadeReport

A stomach virus spread among the team that caused 2 practices to be cancelled and rescheduled. Several players have missed practice time due to the virus.  Jimbo Fisher also revealed that Matthew Thomas and Chris Casher will both miss spring practice due to shoulder injuries.  WR Isiah Jones will transfer to JUCO after missing the entire 2014 season for being declared academically ineligible.

Last week, Nolebra Kai made a case for JJ Cosentino to be the starting QB in 2015. This week practice video was released that surprisingly revealed JJ was the 3rd string QB not 2nd string as most fans expected.

We also take a closer look at the 2015 defense and FSUBone believes Charles Kelly should’ve been fired after the 2014 season and any improvement in 2015 will be minimal at best.

2015 Spring Practice – Week 1 Recap

In this episode of The Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai recap the first week of spring practice.

032215_RenegadeReport

3 practices are in the books and while some off season questions have been answered, several questions still remain. Seminoles’ fans expected a quarterback battle this spring but it appears that Sean Maguire is fully entrenched as the starter.

It also appears that 4/5 of the starting offensive line has been established. The question is: who will be the starting center?

Defensively, we’ve seen a glimpse of the 2 deep but we’re no closer to answering the biggest defensive question: will the pass rush will improve? We do feel comfortable saying the 2015 defense will be hungrier and nastier than last season.

Jimbo Fisher has been pleased with the attitude and chemistry of this team. We question how much of those feelings are genuine and how much is him trying to instill confidence into a young / inexperienced team.

29-1: Looking Back, Looking Forward

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc. & Nolebra Kai recap FSU’s 59-20 loss to Oregon in the College Football Playoffs.

010415_RenegadeReport

Missed opportunities early followed by a plethora of turnovers in the 3rd quarter ultimately led to the Noles 29 game winning streak coming to an abrupt end. What did we learn? What changes need to be made?

We also look back at the 29 game winning streak starting with the state of the program following a home loss to Florida and an uninspiring Orange Bowl victory over Northern Illinois to where it stands now: poised to be in the National Title hunt for the foreseeable future.

Finally, we talk about the future of the program with the arrival of several early-enrollee recruits who make up “Tribe15”; FSU’s talented 2015 recruiting class.
