Could The Stunning Loss Be A Good Thing?

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc. & Nolebra Kai discuss FSU’s stunning 22-16 loss to Georgia Tech.

102515_RenegadeReport

A potential game winning field goal turned into a blocked field goal returned for a Yellow Jacket, game winning touchdown. The Noles’ offense failed to fully capitalize on early momentum and once again left points on the field. Those missed opportunities were followed by a scoreless 2nd half which have many fans scratching their head today.

It’s fair to criticize Charles Kelly’s unit for not making the stops needed in critical situations to help secure the victory but the FSU defense did enough to win the game by only allowing 16 points, 1 touchdown and forcing 2 turnovers.

Herc. argues that, in the long term, last night’s loss may be the best thing that could’ve happened to the program.

Dalvin Cook Carries Noles To Victory Over USF

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai recap the Noles 34-14 victory over USF.

091315_RenegadeReport

Despite Dalvin Cook running for 266 yards and 3TDs, it was still a bad day for Everett Golson and the FSU offense.  The offensive line struggled in pass protection and were inconsistent in the running game.  The passing attack was plagued with missed reads, bad throws and dropped passes.  To their credit, they were able to overcome several mistakes and score 27 points in the 2nd half.

Overall, the Noles defense continues to impress with ability to pressure and contain mobile quarterbacks but there were still a few instances where their pursuit of the QB caused them to lose sight of eligible receivers and become vulnerable to big plays.

Friday night, FSU faces their toughest challenge so far this season when they go on the road for the first time to face Boston College.

2015 Offensive Line & Defensive Tackle Preview

In this episode of the Renegade Report Herc & Nolebra Kai preview the offensive line and defensive tackle positions for the 2015 season.

080215_RenegadeReport

Despite losing 4 starters to the NFL, Jimbo Fisher is confident in the 2015 offensive line. Left tackle Roderick Johnson anchors a line that is inexperienced but athletic. Run blocking is the strength of the unit right now but their ability to develop chemistry in pass protection will dictate the overall success of the offense.

The defensive tackle position doesn’t feature a superstar like in year’s past. Despite that, there is plenty of talent and depth at the position. Nile Lawrence-Stample and Derrick Nnadi are the starters going into fall camp. Derrick Mitchell, Keith Bryant, Demarcus Christmas and Arthur Williams will compete for playing time. This six-man rotation that averages 6’2 304lbs should be a problem for the interior of opposing offensive lines.

We also discuss recruiting, Jimbo’s appearance on the ESPN “Carwash” and FSU’s ranking in the Coach’s Poll.

041915_RenegadeReport

Now that spring practice has concluded, we take a position-by-position look at the team and discuss our confidence level for each segment going into the season.

While injuries limited participation for several key players this spring, most of those players will be full participants in summer workouts and fall camp.

Despite his poor performance in the spring game, Jimbo Fisher says he’s still confident in Sean Maguire. We discuss whether or not we believe him.

2015 Spring Practice – Week 1 Recap

In this episode of The Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai recap the first week of spring practice.

032215_RenegadeReport

3 practices are in the books and while some off season questions have been answered, several questions still remain. Seminoles’ fans expected a quarterback battle this spring but it appears that Sean Maguire is fully entrenched as the starter.

It also appears that 4/5 of the starting offensive line has been established. The question is: who will be the starting center?

Defensively, we’ve seen a glimpse of the 2 deep but we’re no closer to answering the biggest defensive question: will the pass rush will improve? We do feel comfortable saying the 2015 defense will be hungrier and nastier than last season.

Jimbo Fisher has been pleased with the attitude and chemistry of this team. We question how much of those feelings are genuine and how much is him trying to instill confidence into a young / inexperienced team.

Noles Win 5th Straight Vs. Miami; Captures Atlantic Division Title

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc. & Nolebra Kai recap the Noles 30 – 26 victory over Miami.

111614_RenegadeReport

Another slow start, another double digit deficit, another set of halftime adjustments, another comeback, another victory. With that victory, the Noles captured their third straight ACC Atlantic Division title.

After falling behind 16-0 and trailing 23-7 at halftime, FSU outscored Miami 23-3 in the 2nd half to win their 26th straight game and their 5th straight over the Canes.

Offensively, Jameis Winston threw for over 300 yards and completed passes to 10 different receivers but the offensive MVP was Dalvin Cook who rushed for 92 yards and 2 TDs.

Defensively, Jalen Ramsey was the star of the night. In addition to the game clinching interception, the sophomore DB also tallied 3 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 4 pass breakups and a forced fumble

With their win and Mississippi State’s loss, FSU reclaimed the top spot in both the coaches and AP poll. We’ll see if the CFB Playoff Selection Committee agrees on Tuesday night.
