After a transition season in 2015, the season we’ve been waiting for is finally here and everyone.

It was an offseason full of headlines, but unlike the last few years, the headlines have been mostly positive. The ACC Network is finally a reality. The Seminoles will be featured on Showtime’s “A Season With”. Neutral site games against Boise State and West Virginia are on the horizon.

Magazines, pundits and “experts” all project FSU to be a top 5 team in upcoming preseason polls.

Is this the season FSU returns to the College Football Playoffs? Can FSU dethrone Clemson and regain ACC supremacy?

Uninspired, Unimpressive, Unacceptable

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai recap the Noles 24-16 victory over Wake Forest.

100415_RenegadeReport

It was an unimpressive and uninspired effort by FSU yesterday. Was it because of the weather? Was it because the slew in injuries early in the game? Was it because the team was looking ahead to their showdown against Miami next week? Regardless of the reason(s), what we saw yesterday is unacceptable.

Will injuries to Dalvin Cook and Mario Pender finally force Everett Golson to use his legs as a weapon? On the opposite end of the spectrum, is it time to bench Golson and see if Sean Maguire can spark the offense?

With the Miami Hurricanes coming to town we fully expect to see a much better effort Saturday night. The question is will it be good enough to win the game?

Noles Defense Dominates Boston College

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc. & Nolebra Kai recap the Noles 14-0 victory over Boston College.

FSU’s defense controlled the game from start to finish. Charles Kelly’s unit held the Eagles to 195 total yards and never allowed them to get into scoring range. Jalen Ramsey’s 36 yard scoop and score put an exclamation point on a dominant performance.

After the first drive of the game, FSU’s offense was offensive. There was no rhythm, there was no consistency and there were no more points scored. Dalvin Cook was held to 54 yards rushing on 15 carries.

The most shocking stat of the game was Cason Beatty averaging 52.3 yards on 7 punts.

With ¼ of the season completed and no game this week, we discuss what we know and what we think we know about the 2015 Seminoles’ football team.

Dalvin Cook Carries Noles To Victory Over USF

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai recap the Noles 34-14 victory over USF.

091315_RenegadeReport

Despite Dalvin Cook running for 266 yards and 3TDs, it was still a bad day for Everett Golson and the FSU offense.  The offensive line struggled in pass protection and were inconsistent in the running game.  The passing attack was plagued with missed reads, bad throws and dropped passes.  To their credit, they were able to overcome several mistakes and score 27 points in the 2nd half.

Overall, the Noles defense continues to impress with ability to pressure and contain mobile quarterbacks but there were still a few instances where their pursuit of the QB caused them to lose sight of eligible receivers and become vulnerable to big plays.

Friday night, FSU faces their toughest challenge so far this season when they go on the road for the first time to face Boston College.

Noles “Solid” In Win Vs. Texas State

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai recap the Noles 59-16 victory over the Texas State Bobcats.

090715_RenegadeReport

Everett Golson made his FSU debut Saturday night and completed 19 of 25 passes for 302 yards,  4 touchdowns with 0 interceptions.  The passing attack was set up by a dominant running attack that was established early in the game.  FSU ran the ball on 23 of the first 32 offensive plays and tallied 266 total rushing yards.  Dalvin Cook led the way with 156 rushing yards on just 19 carries.  He also scored 2 touchdowns.

The defense was more physical and really hustled to the ball.  Despite only having 1 sack, the Noles were still able to get pressure on the QB and force him to get rid of the ball sooner than he wanted to.  The defensive line in pressure packages was: Josh Sweat, Giorgio Newberry, Demarcus Walker and Jacob Pugh.

Overall it was a bad night for the special teams.  Kermit Whitfield and Jalen Ramsey had good kickoff returns but those were offset by: 2 fumbled punt returns, a fake punt conversion allowed, 2 bad punts and 2 kickoffs that sailed out of bounds.

041915_RenegadeReport

Now that spring practice has concluded, we take a position-by-position look at the team and discuss our confidence level for each segment going into the season.

While injuries limited participation for several key players this spring, most of those players will be full participants in summer workouts and fall camp.

Despite his poor performance in the spring game, Jimbo Fisher says he’s still confident in Sean Maguire. We discuss whether or not we believe him.

2015 Spring Practice – Week 4 Recap

In this episode of The Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai recap the spring game and discuss if our expectations for the 2015 season have changed.

041215_RenegadeReport

Going into spring practice there were several questions surrounding the Seminoles this season. Now that spring practice has concluded, we’re no closer to having answers for most of those questions.

Sean Maguire seems entrenched as the starter at quarterback but his performance yesterday did little ease the concerns of Noles fans as they prepare for “Life After Jameis”. Maguire went 22-44, 289 yards, 0 TDs, 2 Ints.

When evaluating the spring game or 3rd scrimmage as Jimbo called it, it’s important not to overreact to anything good or bad that you saw. With so many guys not participating due to various injuries we didn’t get an accurate look at the team we’ll see in the fall.

2015 Spring Practice – Week 2 Recap

In this episode of The Renegade Report, Herc & special guest co-host Travis aka FSUBone recap week 2 of FSU’s spring practice.

032915_RenegadeReport

A stomach virus spread among the team that caused 2 practices to be cancelled and rescheduled. Several players have missed practice time due to the virus.  Jimbo Fisher also revealed that Matthew Thomas and Chris Casher will both miss spring practice due to shoulder injuries.  WR Isiah Jones will transfer to JUCO after missing the entire 2014 season for being declared academically ineligible.

Last week, Nolebra Kai made a case for JJ Cosentino to be the starting QB in 2015. This week practice video was released that surprisingly revealed JJ was the 3rd string QB not 2nd string as most fans expected.

We also take a closer look at the 2015 defense and FSUBone believes Charles Kelly should’ve been fired after the 2014 season and any improvement in 2015 will be minimal at best.
