Jimbo Out! Taggart In?

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc. & Nolebra Kai discuss Jimbo Fisher’s resignation from FSU.

Last week it seemed likely, this week it seemed inevitable and today it became official; Jimbo Fisher is no longer FSU’s football coach.  He will sign a 10 year, 75 million dollar contract to become Texas A&M’s new coach.  Despite the way things ended, Jimbo Fisher should be applauded modernizing the program and bringing FSU their 3rd National Title.

The top target to replace Jimbo is Willie Taggart.  How do we feel about Taggart becoming FSU’s new coach?  What coaches are rumored to be joining him at FSU?

FSU Wins A Home Game This Season…..Finally

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai recap the Noles’ 27-24 victory over Syracuse.

Led by 199 yards rushing from true freshman running back Cam Akers and a missed (blocked FG) as time expired, FSU was able to capture their first victory in Doak Campbell Stadium this season.

FSU is now 3-5 on the season and after the loss to Clemson on Saturday, they’ll need to win 3 straight just to become bowl eligible.

Rumors of dissension among players and coaches continue to leak out of the program.  We talk about those rumors as well as the 2 candidates speculated to be leading candidates to replace Charles Kelly as defensive coordinator.

FSU vs Miami Preview & Prediction

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc. & Nolebra Kai recap FSU’s victory over Wake Forest and previews Saturday’s showdown against Miami.

The Noles squeaked out an uninspiring 26-19 victory over the Demon Deacons and now the undefeated, confident Hurricanes come to town looking to snap their 7 game losing streak against FSU.

With an offensive line looking as bad as we can ever remember, a true freshman quarterback who has a bad habit of staring down receivers and a defense who continues to struggle against tempo team, we discuss the possibility of FSU finishing the regular season 7-5 or worse.

It will take a dominant defensive performance and a masterful offensive gameplan for FSU to beat Miami for the 8th straight time. Does this team have that type of performance in them?

Noles Lose To Bama; Francois Out For The Season

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai discuss the Noles’ 24-7 loss to Alabama.

Eleven points in 13 seconds due to unacceptable special teams play put a hard fought, winnable game out of reach. To literally add injury to insult, Deondre Francois suffered a season ending knee injury.  Now FSU must turn to true freshman James Blackman to lead the offense going forward.

The defense played at a championship level, holding Alabama to 269 total yards. If FSU is going to achieve any of their preseason goals, the defense must continue to play at a high level while the offense adjusts to James Blackman as the new starting quarterback.

A season’s worth of special team blunders were committed in this game including a blocked field goal, blocked punt, fumbled kickoff return and several short punts. This continues a pattern of special teams regression that started in 2014.  Should Jay Graham be relieved of his special team coordinator duties?

FSU vs Alabama Preview & Prediction

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc. & Nolebra Kai preview the epic showdown between the Noles and Crimson Tide.

It’s been labeled as the “Greatest Opener of All Time” with #1 Alabama facing #3 FSU. To have any chance at winning, we believe FSU must do the following things:

Offensively, whether it’s moving the pocket, designed runs or scrambling, Deondre Francois needs to stay on the move.  The WR trio of Murray, Tate and Gavin must win one-on-one battles and make tough, contested catches.  We don’t expect the rushing attack to be very successful but we believe the running backs need to make their impact felt in the passing game.

Defensively, FSU must sell out to stop the run and make Jalen Hurts beat them passing the ball.  When Hurts drop back to pass, it’s imperative the pass rushers maintain their rush lanes and prevent him from scrambling.

2017 Fall Camp Week 3 Review

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc. & Nolebra Kai recap the 3rd week of FSU’s 2017 fall camp.

Backup center Baveon Johnson will miss the 2017 season with a torn meniscus. With his injury, Alec Eberle’s health and improved play become even more important if FSU is to compete for a National Title this season.

Keith Gavin continues to receive high praise from Jimbo Fisher. Despite not recording a single catch as a freshman, we wouldn’t be surprised if he is FSU’s leading receiver this season.

Deondre Francois was kicked out of practice by Jimbo Fisher this week. He now joins Jameis Winston, Rashad Greene, Lamarcus Joyner and many other great players that have been kicked out of practice for one reason or another.

2017 Spring Practice Preview

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai preview FSU’s 2017 Spring Practice.

Life without Dalvin Cook begins.  We expect a committee approach to replacing his productivity.  Although he’s true freshman, we expect Cam Akers to be Jacques Patrick’s primary backup to start the season.

Fans will delight in the fact that it is literally impossible for the offense to feature a “midget package” at wide receiver.  Jokes aside, the development of this unit will be the key to Deondre Francois’ development.

The offensive line will feature more size but does bigger equal better?

We also discuss Dameyune Craig’s return to FSU as an offensive analyst.

2016 Season Recap

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc. & Nolebra Kai recap the Noles’ 2016 season.

010417_renegadereport

FSU finished the 2016 season by winning their last 5 games and 7 of the last 8.  Despite that finish, Herc. still feels like the season was a disappointment.  Jimbo Fisher and the coaching staff didn’t push the right buttons early in the season to get maximum effort from the players.  The offensive line continued to struggle.  The biggest disappointment was all the injuries (notably Derwin James) that prevented us from seeing just how good this team could be.

Despite the disappointments, there were several positives takeaways from the season.  FSU swept Florida and Miami for the 4th straight season.  They also proved to be the more physical team in their Orange Bowl victory over Michigan.

We also discuss whether or not there will be some coaching changes in the off season.

FSU vs UF Preview & Prediction

In this episode of the Renegade Report, Herc. & Nolebra Kai preview Saturday’s game against the Florida Gators.

112316_renegadereport

With a win Saturday night, FSU seniors would finish their career a perfect 8-0 against Florida and Miami.  To accomplish that, the Seminoles defense must shut down the Gators’ rushing attack and force Austin Appleby to beat them through the air.  Marquez White and Tarvarus McFadden will have to contain a dangerous receiver in Antonio Calloway.

Offensively, FSU’s receivers must beat man coverage and win their one-on-one battles against a talented Gators’ secondary.  Will Jimbo Fisher utilize Deondre Francois’ mobility in the running and passing game to help neutralize the Gators’ attacking defensive line.  With no game next week, expect Dalvin Cook to get as many carries as necessary to win the game.

We also discuss the Jimbo Fisher to LSU rumors and what should be Jimbo’s negotiating play this time around.
