Covering Seminoles Football From The Cheap Seats

Fall Camp Week 2 Recap

In this episode of The Renegade Report, Herc & Nolebra Kai recap week 2 of fall camp.

Greene, Shaw and Benjamin

Another week, another pass catcher lost for the season.  Senior wide receiver Jared “Scooter” Haggins will miss the season with a stress fracture in his knee.  On the offensive line, Cam Erving sat out most of the week resting his sore hamstring.  Jacob Farhenkrug took reps at starting left tackle in his absence.

The Seminoles held their first scrimmage of the fall this week.  In an effort to closely examine some freshmen and to protect his primary skill position players, Jimbo Fisher decided to place Rashad Greene, Kenny Shaw, Kelvin Benjamin, James Wilder Jr. and Devonta Freeman in green jerseys.  This meant they weren’t allowed to be taken to the ground on a tackle.

Defensively, pressure was brought from everywhere… with everyone .  With players being asked to learn 2 and sometimes 3 positions on the defense, coach Pruitt has a myriad of personnel packages to experiment with to see which ones work and which ones done.  That process continued in the scrimmage.

Ronald Darby got fully healthy at the right time as a nagging injury to PJ Williams has limited him in practice; thus allowing Darby to take first team reps at corner.
